Don't Let your Gold Collect Dust

Do you have gold jewellery that is broken, bent, unmatched, or no longer worn? At Appelt's we are happy to offer cash or store credit for your gold.

We have been a trusted destination for gold and diamonds in Manitoba for over 84 years, which means our highly-trained staff can accurately tell you the value of your pieces. At Appelt's, we will also provide you cash or credit for our store after appraisal. (Depending on the amount, we may have to issue a check).

With 4 stores in Southern Manitoba, we have several convenient locations for you to drop off your gold.

How do we determine the price of gold?

The first step is separate your scrap gold (such as broken jewellery, or unmatched earrings) and intact jewellery. Some intact jewellery may be more valuable as it could possibly be sold as an estate piece.

Once we have separated out your scrap gold, we will then categorize it based on its fineness; this refers to the amount of pure gold in the alloy of the piece. You will often find this stamped on the piece, with 24K, 18K,14K and 10K being the most common. 24k means 100 percent gold, while 18k is 75 percent, 14k is 58.3 percent, and 10k is 41.7 percent. The amount of gold within the alloy informs the price of the gold.

If your jewellery doesn't have a stamp, our highly trained staff will be able to use our in-house testing equipment to determine the gold content.

Did you know we also purchase jewellery?

We understand that there are many reasons to sell jewellery you no longer wear, which is why we offer our clients a discreet and friendly service.

We also understand that this process can be emotional, but at the same time selling jewellery can also bring exciting new opportunities. We have evaluated thousands of pieces and this experience enables us to have an expert understanding of the market and offer our clients a fair value for their pieces.

We offer our clients cash or store credit, and no item is too big or too small. In the interest of convenience, our clients are not required to make an appointment.

Please note that we may not be able to accept all jewellery.
